Frequently Asked Questions

The pick up time from your accommodation will be 7.00 to 7.10am. Our latest departure time is 7.30am. We like to depart earlier when everyone is on board.

We usually arrive back between 3.30pm to 4.30pm. This depends on our departure time and the weather conditions on the day. Please let us know if you need to be back by a certain time, we will endeavour to do this for you.

We spend up to 2 hours at Blue Pearl Bay, and 45 minutes at Langford Island.

No. We are a non-smoking vessel, similar to any public transport.

We prefer our passengers to hire and wear a lycra stinger suit during the stinger (jellyfish) season, however we cannot make you wear one.

However please be aware that jellyfish can cause nasty stings, and for some people can be very dangerous.

During the winter months when stinger suits are not required, you can still use one as protection from the sun. In winter we do have wetsuits available for hire.

This depends on the time of the year. During school holidays, Christmas holidays etc we do recommend advance bookings.

If you are concerned about the weather conditions on your chosen date, you can cancel or change date as long as it is not within our 24 hour cancellation period.

Yes. We get many passengers who cannot swim, or who have never snorkelled or dived before.

We have comfortable lifejackets and pool noodles to assist those who are not confident in the water. Pool noodles are great for those to learn snorkelling even if you can swim. Remember you are never too old to give it a go.

All our snorkelling is done off the beaches, allowing passengers the choice of how deep they go.

No we don’t, however you can hire one from the Aqua Dive shop at the marina before we depart. Please let us know when you arrive at the marina and we will take you to the shop. You can use contact lenses under a normal mask.

From time to time we do have to make the decision to cancel due to the weather being unsafe. While we do try to do this the day before, sometimes the weather can come up over night and the strong wind may require us to cancel on the day.

If we do cancel you will be issued a full refund, or the option to transfer to another day.

We do advise if you are prone to motion sickness that you take medication. You can buy seasick tablets from the pharmacy. It is advisable to have one the night before and then one about half an hour before getting on the boat. Overall we get minimal seasickness, especially as passengers can sit outside with fresh air, and no fumes.

No. Illusions 2 is a fully licensed vessel with a variety of alcohol available at competitive prices. You must not bring your own please.

We have normal tap water available however we are no longer selling bottled water (for environmental reasons!) Please bring your own water bottles so you can take water to the beach.

  • Swimwear and a towel.
  • Sunscreen, a hat, glasses etc to protect from the sun.
  • A windbreaker jacket/jersey as even on a warm day the wind can be chilly after being in the water.
  • A water bottle.

We have plenty of space on the boat so if you have your own wetsuits/stinger suits/snorkelling gear you are welcome to bring it along.
